A first visit to Rivers Casino does not have to be all machines and cards. Rapids Showroom & Lounge is where you grab a meal, sit down for a while and catch a band.

Breakfast, lunch and the lounge
Rapids Showroom & Lounge is three things in one room: the casino's restaurant, its bar and its showroom. The menus are printed under the name Rivers Cafe, so don't be thrown when you see that on the cover. Breakfast mains run from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch favourites start at 11 a.m. and go until 5 p.m., so late risers and lunch people can sit at the same table.
Dinner is the tricky part. Nothing is posted about its hours, so ring (780) 790-9739 and request extension 118 for the lounge manager. As for the lounge, it runs daily from 9:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. You won't find holiday hours posted, so phoning ahead of a holiday visit is a good idea.
A band every week
Live music plays in the Rapids showroom every week. The casino says the room has the biggest dance floor in town, and there's plenty of table space if you'd rather sit with a drink and listen. Have a look there before you head downtown. It's an easy way to settle first-visit nerves, because you'll know what the room is doing before you walk in.
Booking the showroom
Private parties and events are also welcome in the showroom, for groups of 4 up to 250 guests. Any day or hour is possible; to book, phone (780) 790-9739, which is the casino's main line at 9825 Hardin St., downtown. The call moves faster with a rough head count and a date ready beforehand.

Can I just come for breakfast?
Breakfast on its own is fine. Rapids Showroom & Lounge serves breakfast mains from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and lunch favourites run 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. You still need to be 18 to enter the casino, and staff will ask for government-issued photo ID if you look younger than 25.
